Calling All Dental Forms!

Just a reminder that dental forms should be returned to the nurse's office as soon as possible. If we do not receive a form for your child he or she will receive a non-invasive dental screening by our school dentist. This is to be in compliance with RI School Health Regulations.

Flu Season will be here soon. The community Flu shot clinic will be held on November 3, 2015 between 4-630pm at then Narragansett Pier School.

As you know the flu season is upon us. If your child is diagnosed with the flu or other contagious condition (such as strep throat, pink eye, head lice, etc.) please let the nurse know. This will help us identify clusters of the same illness so that parents can be notified if necessary.

If your child has a fever (100.4 or higher) or is vomiting, please keep him/her home until fever-free for 24 hours without the use of temperature lowering medication (such as Tylenol or Advil).

Check out the following website for more information about influenza!

A reminder about our Medication Policy....

If it is necessary for your child to receive medication during the school day, please remember that the following conditions must be met...

  • All medication, both prescription and over the counter, require a physician authorization and parent signature. The physician authorization can be faxed to the school from the physician's office.
  • All medications must be transported to and from school by an adult. Students are not allowed to transport medication except under certain circumstances and with the approval of the physician, parent, school nurse and school administrator.
  • All medications must be in their original pharmacy labeled containers.

Please feel free to contact the school nurse if you have any questions about our Medication Policy.

Screenings: help detect problems for early care and treatment

Vision Screening is conducted by the school nurse for K-5 grade students each year. However, any student can be screened if the parent, student or teacher has concerns about their vision. Parents will be notified by mail of any failure and the student should be evaluated by their eye physician.

Hearing Screenings are performed on all students yearly. However, any student can be screened if the parent, student or teacher has concerns about their hearing. Parents will be notified by mail of any failure and the student should be evaluated by their physician. Hearing screening for grades PK - 3 is on October 8th.

Dental Screening is conducted by Donna Hagerty, our school dentist for the all students. Students who have brought in reports from their own dentist, are exempt. If indicated a referral will be mailed to the parents.
